Late in 2017 an opportunity arose to again show some examples from the artwork titled The Neighbourhood. In addition to displaying what had been shown some months earlier (see The Neighbourhood: Panels 12-16 for further details), this exhibit presented a number of printed panels that looked into the combustible sedimentary rock known as coal and its use in Dunedin, New Zealand. I grew up not far from the site of the city's gasworks, the site where so much brown coal was burnt. As a child I was fascinated by what was, already back then, a very dilapidated and increasingly non-essential industry. Here two audio files from this exhibition have been included to help give you an impression of how the topics of coal, combustion, and industry have been handled in the context of this exhibit.
