Considered by many to be the first truly international superstar of the pornographic film industry, John Curtis Holmes is a well-known public figure. Yet in the instance of this display an attempt was made to try and temper his fame as an actor in pornographic films - including, instead, a more rounded biography of John Curtis Holmes within the content and the make-up of the artwork. In a text included in the bottom left-hand panel of the artwork you could read about the actor and his upbringing, about the many jobs and business ventures he was involved in both outside and, at times, alongside his work as an actor in pornographic films. Though still only a sketch, the biography did offer a somewhat broader list of things that he had done or was exposed to during his life. John Curtis Holmes died in 1988, from the effects of HIV aids.
