The object at the centre of this artwork was modelled on the Phillips P2000T; a Dutch-made computer with a memory capacity of up to 48 KB. The computer had arrived in the city of Uster in the autumn of 1982, and it is in this place, some twenty eight years later, that the artwork was produced and displayed. With an original purchase price of 15 000 Swiss Francs, the P2000T had been a cutting-edge machine, bought by the town´s technical-training institute in partnership with Zellweger AG. According to public reports in various records from that time, there was much hope that with the Philips P2000T a new era in Swiss-led industry would now be launched.
