This exhibition was shown within the framework of an artist residency at the Dunedin School of Art. Twenty-two works from the series titled The Neighbourhood could be seen in this solo show. And in a certain sense, the occasion of this exhibit marked a turning-point for this larger series of work. Held in late April of 2021, the thirty-seven works that now make up The Neighbourhood were at a point of being more or less complete. Added to this, many of the themes and sub-themes contained within this series of work were put forward in the context of this show. These themes include territory, family, enclosure and escape, a city's legacy of incursion and colonial expansion, along with borders, boundaries, non-human coinhabitants, and a city's armament against the imagined threat of invasion.
