The first works to come out of the artwork titled The Stick and Other Stories were shown in a small group exhibition in 2020. Titled The Stick, this particular cluster of works looked into the subject of corporeal punishment in schools. Now in further development, these works seek to capture the disciplinary strategy and practice of caning children—a practice outlawed in Aotearoa/New Zealand since July of 1990.
