Once set into operation, the artwork presented passers-by with a somewhat unusual sight, where a performer on a bicycle with his rear wheel in the air sat attached to a box and pedalling in a stationary position. Three dynamos were connected to the rear wheel of the bicycle, generating enough electrical energy to light up a small picture situated in the work´s interior. If the onlooker moved closer and peered into the box they could then encounter a hand-drawn copy of a well-known photograph depicting the deceased children of Joseph and Magda Goebbels. It is an image that had been taken not long after the children´s bodies were discovered in May of 1945, in the Reichskanzlei Vorbunker2 of Berlin. Throughout the time of this artwork's display, viewers were free to come and view the action, look inside the artwork, and if they wished, speak to the pedaller/performer.
